Treating the Source of the

Problem

The Eastern cultures and most of our indigenous forefathers understood medicine differently.  When they had a problem, they did not just simply come up with a chemically processed solution to treat the symptoms.  These cultures understood their history and the fact that a symptom is merely a symptom and if you want to make real change, you must understand where the root of the problem exist.

I relate very much with this TedX Tulum talk by Mary Ann Thompson.  The understanding that changing our attitudes about what we are doing, how we are doing it and what we can do to make social changes that are more equitable for all living souls is going to take solutions at the root level of our society.  Social Acupunture is a great term for this change in attitude needed today.  For many of us, it is waking up to how we have just fallen into the old traps that the old system has created for us.  Social change happens when we realize that in order to make the change, we must “see and be” the change.

Mary Ann Thompson has shown us what can be done when a society looks at their problems, realistically, with an approach to “correction”, not just allieviating symptoms.  The problem with this approach of allieviating symptoms, is that the issue does not really go away, and probably returns with more vengence in the future.  As we see on those constant commercials for medicines on our television sets, the cures sound worse than the issue itself.

There are so many ingenious people today ready to make their own lives better by sharing their ideas, the time is now for us to step up with our own creativity, desire for change and love of humanity and our planet to shae our ideas and solutions.

The Tedx channel gives us opportunities to learn, discover, create and share our own ideas.  Our world is connecting like never before,   Find what it is that creates the excitement for you and join in with the Social Acupuncture challenges that we are facing today.  This is not a job for one person with old ideas, but all people with old and new ideas that are ready to eliminate the problems all together.  Some of these issues run very deep in our culture and must be completely transmuted, where others can be tweaked through our conscious socially motivated efforts.

There is a lot of social movement activity being discussed today.

Join the conversation. Change is on our horizon there is no doubt.

Quote From Author of Social Acupuncture:

“[I suspect] that in the drive toward the liberal universalist notion of human rights that characterized the last fifty or so years, there has been an accompanying oversensitivity that, in practice, keeps us atomized and more likely to be manipulated and have our rights impinged upon.”
Darren O’Donnell, Social Acupuncture

Thanks for reading.   Best of Luck Always!

Martin Luther King Jr.
“One of the great liabilities of history is that all too many people fail to remain awake through great periods of social change. Every society has its protectors of status quo and its fraternities of the indifferent who are notorious for sleeping through revolutions. Today, our very survival depends on our ability to stay awake, to adjust to new ideas, to remain vigilant and to face the challenge of change.”
